Itinerary

  • Rue Port Neuf

We will start our gourmet tour with a stroll through the pedestrian streets of Bayonne, stopping by and tasting chocolate in one of the oldest chocolate shops in Bayonne (1854). We"ll pass by the cathedral, the cloister etc before immersing ourselves in our gastronomic visit!

    30 minutes
  • Les Halles de Bayonne

Les Halles de Bayonne is the perfect starting point for our food tour, where you'll get to indulge in some of the freshest and most delicious fish/seafood in the region.

To complement the mouthwatering flavors of the fish/seafood, we've carefully selected a glass of local wine for you to savor. While you discover these local specialties, you'll be surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells of the bustling market. It's the perfect introduction to Bayonne's food scene, and we can't wait to share it with you.

    45 minutes
  • Le trinquet Saint-Andre

Our second stop on the food tour is one of the oldest trinquets in France (A trinquet is a type of indoor court used for playing the Basque ball game called "pelota."). As we arrive, you'll be struck by the traditional architecture and the rich history of the venue.

We'll head to the restaurant inside the trinquet, where you'll get to sample a variety of local tapas and cured meats, each with their own unique flavor profile. To complement the tapas, we'll also serve you a glass of wine from the restaurant's carefully curated selection.

As you savor the delicious food and drink, you'll be surrounded by the lively atmosphere of the trinquet, with the sounds of the game being played in the background. It's a truly unique and unforgettable experience that captures the essence of Basque culture and cuisine.

    1 hour
  • For our third stop, we'll visit a traditional Basque cider house. Here, you'll discover a unique aspect of Basque culture and cuisine that has been passed down from generation to generation.

At the cider house, we'll introduce you to the delicious flavors of Basque sheep's milk cheese, which pairs perfectly with quince paste. And of course, we'll also serve you the house cider (sagarnoa), which has a distinctive and refreshing taste.

But the true highlight of this stop is the unique experience of serving yourself sagarnoa straight from the barrel. This traditional Basque ritual involves catching the sagarnoa as it flows from the barrel. It's an unforgettable experience that truly captures the spirit of Basque hospitality and tradition.

As you sip your sagarnoa and enjoy the cheese, you'll be surrounded by the warm atmosphere of the cider house, with its rustic decor and friendly staff.

    30 minutes
  • Next, we'll head to one of the best pastry shops in Bayonne to pick up a Basque cake that we'll enjoy at our final stop.

    5 minutes
  • For our final stop on the food tour, we'll visit an historic Bayonne coffee roaster. Here, you'll get to taste a freshly roasted espresso paired with an excellent Basque cake from the neighboring pastry shop. The rich aroma and flavor of the coffee, combined with the sweet and savory notes of the cake, will make for a perfect ending to your Basque culinary adventure.
