Our trip to Normandy

Catherine_P, Sept 2025

Herve was an amazing guide and driver. He interjected his knowledge of each area we passed by with equal enthusiasm. He chose and made reservations at a restaurant in an adorable village. Herve kept us on schedule with delicate reminders. All 7 of us (baby included, whom Herve did NOT count as an annoyance) would highly recommend this trip.

Great day trip to Normandy

Kristina_W, Aug 2025

Our guide, Fred, was ptompt and picked us up right at our hotel. He was knowledgeable about the Normandy area, and he was flexible about the amount of time we could spend at each stop. He had called ahead to make a reservation for us for lunch at a local restaurant, which was appreciated. The touring van was clean and nicely stocked with water.

Brilliant day trip from...

Kim_N, Aug 2025

Brilliant day trip from Paris! Lovely to get outside the city and see the countryside and villages. Big thanks to Claire for working out a scheduling bug! Our guide Herve was very knowledgeable, accommodating and witty. He took us to a great waterside spot for lunch - the cod was fresh and delish!! All in all a great day!! Six happy campers! ????????

Great Normandy Battlefields D-Day tour

Donna_S, Aug 2025

Herve was a very knowledgeable and congenial guide. He gave us the historical perspective and then the details at each place we stopped. Rest stops were nicely arranged and the day went by fast. Our group of five, with teens, parent, and grandparents had an interesting yet fun day. The lunch stop had great food, and the towns we went through and stopped at gave us a feel for the countryside outside of Paris. Highly recommend this tour.

Itinerary

  • D-Day Beaches (Plages du Debarquement de la Bataille de Normandie)

Your private tour guide will take your private group up for a full day of World War II history, with an emphasis on the American soldiers who fought to protect the Allies and their people.

You will visit important sites such as the ones that follow.

    2 hours
  • Pointe du Hoc

Your day continues with a visit to Pointe du Hoc, one of the most dramatic sites of the Normandy landings. Perched on a 100-foot cliff overlooking the English Channel, this position was heroically scaled by U.S. Army Rangers under heavy enemy fire. As you walk among the bomb craters and remnants of German bunkers, your guide will bring to life the extraordinary courage and determination that defined this mission.

    1 hour
  • Omaha Beach

Leaving Pointe du Hoc, you'll continue your drive to Omaha Beach, the site of one of the most pivotal events of World War II.

Here, you will stand on the sands where 2,400 American soldiers lost their lives on D-Day in the fight to secure a beachhead stretching nearly 5 miles, from Port-en-Bessin to the Vire River, ultimately linking up with the British landings at Gold Beach and the American forces at Utah Beach.

Your guide will share the powerful history of Omaha Beach before leaving you free time to reflect and pay tribute to those who fought against the German 352nd Infantry Division.

    2 hours
  • Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer

Your journey then takes you to the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, the resting place of nearly 9,400 U.S. soldiers. Stroll among the perfectly aligned white crosses, visit the Memorial, the Wall of the Missing, and the chapel. This solemn and peaceful site is an enduring reminder of the cost of freedom.

    1 hour
  • Arromanches-les-Bains

Leaving the American Cemetery, you'll sit back and relax as you drive to Arromanches, where you will see the remains of the artificial harbor (Mulberry Bridge), a key engineering achievement that played a decisive role in the success of the D-Day landings.
