Paul R. is a wonderful guide. He met us on time and began speaking to us about the rich history of the area. He is very personable and shared his wealth of knowledge about the Luxembourg Gardens and the Pantheon. The walk through both locations was at a acceptable pace and, though we did not need to, he offered us plenty of opportunities to sit and rest as he spoke with us. We also ran into Paul at Versailles a few days later and, though he was leading another tour, he quickly and warmly greeted us as they passed us by. He is a wonderful asset the guide community.

Meet your guide In front of the Odéon Theatre, Place de l'Odéon, 75006 Paris, France
This green, urban oasis is deeply connected to the history of Paris, as it was created upon the initiative of Queen Marie de Medici after the assassination of Henri IV. The showpiece of the gardens is of course the magnificent Luxembourg Palace, a formal royal residence now housing the French Senate. Nowadays, the 60-acre park is a popular hanging out spot for Parisians, known for extraordinary public amenities. You will enter the park through the entrance next to Musée du Luxembourg, the oldest contemporary art museum.
See some of the 106 statues spread throughout the park, such as the Chopin Statue, Statue of Liberty and bronze figure of ‘David, winner of Goliath’. Walk past the Pavillon Davioud and enjoy the large green space with ponds as well as French and English gardens.
See also the historic, decorative Marie De Medicis Fountain with Italian-style statues. Place du Pantheon square, featuring spectacular monuments such as Panthéon, Pantheon-Sorbonne University, Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève and the ornate Saint-Étienne-du-Mont church.
A neoclassical masterpiece originally commissioned by King Louis XV. Inside this 18th-century mausoleum, you’ll explore a grand crypt that holds the remains of France’s most celebrated figures, including Victor Hugo, Voltaire, and Marie Curie. Your Licensed Guide will share captivating stories about their lives and contributions, offering a deeper understanding of French cultural, scientific, and political history. This extended tour is perfect for those seeking a more immersive journey into the heart of Parisian heritage.
