Located a couple of hours north of the French Riviera, head inland to the region of Provence to the Gorges du Verdon. It’s a special add-on to any South of France holiday. What immediately strikes visitors about the gorge – the deepest in France – are the bright turquoise waters caused by glacial minerals. Prepare to be mesmerised.
Located in southeastern France, between Var and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, visitors are treated to a slice of heaven – the Lake of Sainte-Croix. This man-made lake is fed by the Verdon River and its clay bottom makes the water shine a bright turquoise that’s out of this world. There are lots of ways to enjoy the lake – from sunbathing and swimming to windsurfing, sailing or fishing.
The Provence lavender fields treat visitors to world-renowned panoramas that bloom from June to August. Enjoy walking through the rows of lavender at Luberon Valley – a local favourite with the Senanque Abbey. Get some great shots of this monastery against rows of lavender. World-renowned panoramas and picturesque villages are on the cards at the Plateau de Valensole.
