He was extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of all cities we were visiting in Provence and gave us great insight into not only the food history but also art, music, theater and geography of France. Renaud was a fabulous guide. Went only learned about the food and culture of Toulon but some history as well. He was interesting and engaging and was happy to answer all of our questions. He also sent me a list of favorite eateries in the area.

Let's start your culinary journey with a typical snack from Toulon: la cade! It's a thin and crispy chickpea tart that you may find across all Provence and the near Liguria - in Italy - with different names. Simple but delicious!
30 minutesLet's continue with a classic Provençal aperitif! You will sip a refreshing glass of local wine while indulging in a delicious cheese tasting. You will have the chance to eat like a real Toulonnais while also visiting the local covered market, called les Halles de Toulon. Truly unmissable!
45 minutesAfter a stroll around the beautiful city center, have a seat in this beautiful local restaurant and try the dish of the day. Made of meat, fish or vegetables, let these ingredients amaze your taste buds. The dish proposed by local chefs changes every day according to availability of local products.
1 hourOne of the most famous French desserts, the favourite one of the iconic actress Brigitte Bardot (at least according to the rumors!). A soft brioche on the outside filled with a genereous amount of cream. Have you guessed what dessert are we talking about?
45 minutesLet's end on a sweet note: enjoy a refreshing home made gelato flavoured with local delicacies. The choice of the dessert depends on the season and the availability of the ingredients.
