Jamie was amazing! We enjoyed our tour very much and definitely recommend this tour for anyone visiting London. We covered the main parts of the museum and the guide was very well informed on all things and could answer any questions we had

Matilda was an amazing guide through the British Museum. With millennia of history, we would have been overwhelmed if it were not for Matilda’s insights and commentary. We left the tour and museum with a great sense of appreciation and awe.

Galleries and artefacts out of this world!! Entry a fiasco... The main entrance gates are locked. A barrier occupying half the width of a busy pavement is 'guarded' by uniformed hi-viz jacketed staff, (4 when I visited on 26.03.2025) asking for ticket proof??? Many confused visitors from abroad and home are baffled because they always thought entry was free to all (except staged exhibitions.) When asked why the barriers and the questions, staff did not know, 'We're just doing what we're told'. Wow, how unwelcoming to visitors and baffling to all. The world famous museum has an acre of forecourt, why on earth this procedure can't be conducted in the grounds of the museum is a mystery, why is the pavement partially blocked by this unnecessary fiasco? This could all be sorted inside the tent that behaves as security check.) Once inside, we wanted to know more about the history and design of the building so headed for the information desk. Unfortunately, the staff could not help us with answers to our basic questions about when the reading room was built or who designed it. Wow, what were they doing on the information desk? When I asked when would I be able to use the reading room for study and research I was told this was not possible, ever...but I could take pictures if I wanted. What on earth? Sorry to moan but something appears to have gone awry with the idea of access to the treasures (entrance-wise) and the purpose of using a museum to investigate, study and personal learning enrichment. Would you please try to improve these aspects of the service you provide to the public. Would be great to have a reading room that we can read in!) Linda King. UB9 6HT

Laurence is an extremely knowledgeable person and the information he provided was very interesting. He did a very good job of explaining the things he showed and was very considerate of our needs. I would highly recommend this tour.
Trade in paintings for mummies and historical artifacts on a tour of the British Museum. The enormous collection spans 6000 years of human history, featuring items from all over the world like Samurai armor and rare Assyrian lion hunt reliefs. Your guide will take a serious but enjoyable approach towards the museum’s galleries, discussing primitive tribes and fallen empires through a carefully chosen selection of items.
You’ll learn about the Mummy of Katebet, the Lewis Chessmen, and the Rosetta Stone – the actual rock, not the language learning program. Walk away with an understanding of what we humans have achieved during our short history and hopefully you’ll be proud to call yourself a part of this incredible species.
