Never Showed Up

Didn't get a chance to have an experience because the tour guide never showed up. I got a text through the viator app two minutes before our scheduled time that they were canceling the tour without a refund because I didn't purchase my own tickets to Versailles. I did have tickets so I have no idea what they were talking about. Through the app chat they wanted to see my tickets. I was unable to send a photo so I sent the the ticket number. All of this exchange took a lot of time and I was missing not only my tour but my scheduled time into the palace. Then I get an email with a full refund so the only thing I can assume is they were never planning on doing the tour and were going to try to scam me. While I appreciate the refund (though they had no choice), I really wanted my tour. I ended up going in and walking through without the guide but it wasn't the same.

Versailles was spectacular. Once in a lifetime opportunity. Spent a lot of cash to have an intimate guided experience. Our guide Alex was a nice guy, so reluctant to bash this tour, but his English was brutal, he spent way too much time discussing his “real vocation” (life coaching), his personal travel. I actually couldn’t wait to be rid of him. For $450+ for two hours, two guests, just poor investment. Sharon and I have booked many trips with Viator. This is this first truly bad experience.
